Personality:
With people, Amu shows a “cool and spicy” character, where she is detached, confident and strong in all situations, uninclined to get close to people. Deep down, however, she is actually rather insecure, and is very introverted. She wants to be able to express herself better and to be smarter and kinder than she is...but doesn't quite know how to express it. Amu is prone to getting many little crushes on different boys, but she is easily embarrassed about them, prone to blush and be huffy in response. Still, should someone get to know Amu well, she is very determined and, despite her lack of confidence, always does the right thing. At Hogwarts, she is rather naive still to magic, but has difficulty asking people for help, and so is trying to learn as much as she can...meaning she does stumble a bit through learning. Thus far she has found an enjoyment of and talent at flying (for those that watch the series, this represents Amu's "would-be self" Amulet Heart, who is talented in all sports), and has resolved to become better at Wizard Dueling after a Death Eater attack in Hogsmeade and an adorable little spat with Ikuto (this represents Amu's "would-be self" Amulet Spade, who is talented with all art done with the hands, like painting, sculpture and drawing).

Brief History in Canon: Amu in her anime is an elementary school student who, upon desiring to be more than the “cool and spicy” character she is seen as, awakes to find three eggs by her bedside, which hatch into three “would-be selves” (Shugo Charas) named Ran, Miki and Suu. With these three, Amu slowly learns to open up more with her new friends, the Seiyo Elementary Guardians, who have Shugo Chara of their own, and finds a mission in cleansing the increased number of broken dreams (expressed as “X” eggs) with the power of her Charas and the magical Humpty Lock. In the show and manga, Amu has several schoolgirl crushes, most notably on Hotori Tadase and Tsukiyomi Ikuto.

Background (AU!Canon; HP): Amu grew up as any normal Muggle would in London, with her mother (an editor for a Muggle housewives’ magazine), her father (a wild bird photographer) and younger sister Ami. As a child, her mother dressed her in punk Goth clothing, as to counteract her younger sister’s Lolita-like clothing, and this gave Amu an “unattainable” air about her that, when partnered with her detached disposition, made even her parents see her a “cool and spicy”, confident little girl. Amu took this pressure onto her shoulders, being the most mature in the family, and so kept the façade all throughout her grade school years. Amu’s life took a bizarre, magical turn when she suddenly received a letter to a school called Hogwarts, supposedly for witches and wizards. At first thinking it was a joke, she hid the letter from her parents, but it soon proved fruitless when about a thousand letters came through the mail slot a week later. So, with her excitable Muggle parents’ insistence, Amu reluctantly went to look into the new development in her life and rode the bus to Kings Cross Station to look for the strange Platform 9 ¾ and the even stranger Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Usagi Tsukino (bunnymakesmochi) - A house-mate of Amu's, and the first other muggle-born Amu encountered. Amu's kitten Ran is very fond of her clothes and likes to bury herself into them.

Misa Amane(shinigamiblonde) - A elder Hufflepuff classmate; Amu envies how happy Misa appears to be, though she won't admit it.

Syaoran Li (amberwizard) - A Slytherin in Amu's year; Li was the first pureblood student Amu encountered in her year, and inwardly she thinks he's rather stiff.

Sakura Kinamoro (westwindhome) - One of Amu's dormmates; Amu thinks she's very optimistic and sweet, and is glad she has a fellow Muggle-born in her dorm.

Maito Gai (proudgreenauror) - Hogwarts's flying teacher; Amu was surprised to find she really enjoys his class.

Feliciano Vargas (redgreennpasta) - An upperclassman from Hufflepuff who really acts much younger than Amu; Amu sees him in a similar light to that of her little sister Ami...condescending but kind.

Autor (book_wizard) - A Ravenclaw upperclassman who Amu first met after the Death Eater attack; Amu doesn't understand Autor's pride into his purity of blood, though she does think being related to famous wizards and witches would be interesting.

Kaname (venomflowers) - A mysterious Ravenclaw upperclassman; Amu secretly has a bit of a crush on him. At present, she has no clue what he really is.

Jasper (control_on_edge) - An upperclassman who transferred into Amu's house early in her first year; Amu thinks he is very pretty awfully polite.

Ikuto (catgotyour) - A Slytherin upperclassman who Amu met at the Halloween Masquerade, where he was dressed as a cat; the costume and his behavior earned him the nickname "Perverted Cat-Earred Guy" from Amu, and his treatment of her continues to earn him many a blush and annoyed outburst from her.
